We lost John Lewis this summer.
Often called the “conscience of Congress,” Lewis represented the soul of a movement dedicated to racial and social justice. The notion of a beloved community – a society based on equity and love of fellow human beings — was his guiding star.
“When you see something that is not right, you must say something. You must do something.”
As we move into the fifth month of this crippling pandemic, in which those most vulnerable have suffered the most, we hear his words.
At LIFT, this translates into laser focused attention on our core mission: supporting families with no legal representation through the complex and emotionally charged family court process. For these families, grappling with matters such as support, custody, visitation, orders of protection and domestic violence is urgent, and LIFT is their trusted advisor and ally.
Stable family relationships and providing a safer future for all children are critical to the health of our democracy.
We honor John Lewis by continuing to lift the mantle of his legacy.
