As LIFT celebrates Pro Bono Week, we acknowledge the powerful partnership between the private bar and nonprofit sector as a force for the public good.
LIFT’s extraordinary team of pro bono lawyers, representing an array of corporate and legal institutions throughout the New York Metro area, are critical to our service delivery, and we were thrilled to acknowledge them at our Inaugural Pro Bono Celebration last week.
Through our groundbreaking Family Legal Connection (FLC) — a virtual platform that connects pro bono attorneys with LIFT clients to consult on urgent child support, custody and visitation issues — we are able to reach more people, in more places, throughout New York State and beyond.
During this time of unprecedented economic and social destabilization — when the courts and other social safety nets are operating at a reduced capacity — LIFT is experiencing record breaking numbers of people that are seeking assistance, advice and support to help keep their families protected.
We are also delighted to announce that LIFT’s FLC pro bono program is being honored by the New York State Bar Association and others for Outstanding Contributions to Pro Bono and Access to Justice this evening, October 29th, 2020.
We are proud to be recognized with this award and thank you for your continued support, without which our work could not happen.
